North Coast Spinners Camp Information

NORTH COAST SPINNERS CAMP - 2009
Nuralamee Conference & Accommodation Centre
Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Red Rock Road, Corindi Beach
21st – 23rd August 2009

Clarence Community Events Inc invites all Spinners (and those who wish to
learn) – to join in a weekend of Spinning, yarn crafts, fun and great
company.

Being held at the Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, the weekend
includes some very unique Aboriginal crafts and features a Bush Tucker
Dinner evening complete with Story Telling and Aboriginal entertainment.
Attendees can participate in a range of workshops – the usual, the not-sousual
and a selection of traditional Aboriginal workshops. As well as all this,
there will be Yoga sessions available to those who wish to participate. All
this in a beautiful bushland setting and just a short walk to some magnificent
coastal scenery.

The weekend is based around the International Year of Natural Fibres and
everyone is encouraged to contribute item/s for display.
The display items are to be anything created in yarn/fibre that is inspired by
the Flannel Flower. The flannel flower is iconic to the Gumbaynggirr People
of the Corindi Beach / Red Rock area and has interesting colour, texture and
shape.

Trade tables will be on site and open for trade at different times throughout
the weekend.

The Wadjar Aboriginal Art Gallery and Yuraal Café at Yarrawarra will be
open on Saturday 22nd and everyone is welcome to browse while enjoying a
cup of coffee or a special milk shake or whatever catches their eye..!
